Who can apply for a Business Investor Visa
Business Investor Visa options are generally aimed at non-Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident who wish to either open a business in Australia or invest money in Australia. There are multiples and each option come with many complexities. We therefore do not write an lengthy content on Business Investor visa because we would rather request and prefer the interested clients to contact us so we can discuss the options in more detail on either telephone or face to face meeting.
None the less, a quick short summary of business investor visa options.
Option 1: Business Talent (Permanent) visa – Subclass 132
Under Business Talent visa, they have two different streams. However, for the purpose of keeping the summary short, we will only discuss the most common option:
Significant Business History stream
This visa is a permanent visa. This visa lets you establish a new or develop existing business in Australia.
Requirements:
- Get a State Nomination and an offer letter
- Assets of atleast of AUD $400,000 as the ownership interest in the existing business (ie; business in India) between husband and wife
- Business and personal assets of at least AUD $1.5 million between husband and wife
- A total annual turnover of at least AUD $3 million in your business
Option 2: Business Innovation and Investment Visa (Subclass 188)
This visa has 5 different streams. However, however we will summarise the two most common options.
a. Stream 1: Business Innovation Stream: This is a temporary visa for four years and after four years you may be eligible to apply for Permanent Residency (PR). For this stream, the requirements are:
- Score at least 65 on the points test. The business points test is different to Skilled visa points test
- Get a State Nomination and an offer letter
- Ownership in a business which had atleast $500,000 turnover for the last two years
- Have atleast 51% ownership in the business.
- You and partner must have $800,000 worth of assets.
Option 3: Significant Investor stream
b. Stream 2: Significant Investor stream. This is a temporary visa for 4 years and then you can apply for Permanent Residency (PR). Invest $5million AUD or more into selected Australian companies. After four years, you will receive your $5million AUD investment back along with any further investment profits that you have incurred.
You do not require any previous business knowledge, age restriction, qualifications, state nomination etc for this visa.
